Re: Compare 3 alternatives to StrokeIt... - 16 years agoI can't get it to work at all. I've defined some gestures and the program itself recognizes them, but outside the test area they are never seen as gestures. It's an interesting interface in some ways, but it has no predefined gestures and does not allow per-application definitions...by MKairys - General Re: Windows Media player option - 16 years agoAre you in the right place? Is this about StrokeIt?by MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Re: "rightclick + wheel_down/wheel_up" doesn't work? - 16 years agoAre you on Vista? See http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?2,12178,12178#msg-12178by MKairys - General Re: StrokeIt doesn't work any more? - 16 years agoWhat do you mean "it doesn't work"? Can you be more specific? - Can you verify (e.g. via Task Manager) that it is actually running? - If so, can you bring up the command editor? - If so, can you find any strokes that work? Do some apps work and not others?by MKairys - General Re: Hold down right mouse button, then click left ... - 16 years agoHowever, I can't do the reverse (leftclick-rightclick). Well, of course, if the right button is your gesture initiator.by MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Re: Summary of Vista Bugs - 16 years ago> Thanks for the workaround for IE7! You're welcome. Old users, already hooked, will put up with instability :):)by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: Applications reappearing - 16 years agoAre you on Vista? Vista does something I don't fully understand, in which files intended to be written to C:\Program Files\... are actually written to %OCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files\...by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: Summary of Vista Bugs - 16 years agoI forgot this one: WHEEL_UP/DOWN appear not to work on Vista. Not sure where this is i priority; high if easy to fix I guess :)by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Summary of Vista Bugs - 16 years agoI've gone through the more recent Vista-related threads and compiled this list of reported problems and workarounds. I also have some comments about priority. Please reply with any bugs or related information I've missed. 1. Colored line draws very slowly - Turn it off - Turn off Desktop Composition (but you lose Flip3D, etc.) - Turn off Aero entirely. 2. MBUTTON_DOWN works but WHEEL_UP/DOWN don't.by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: 'Activate window' doesn't always work - 16 years agoIs this problem with IE only or with other applications as well?by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: Problem when Mouse right & left Buttons are inverted - 16 years agoDoes anyone else see this?by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: Cannot send Alt+left/right arrow keystrokes. - 16 years agoI can confirm this with Acrobat 8. I confirmed that the gesture is received (by adding a "beep" action to it) but the keystroke doesn't seem to have any effect. Alt+left works correctly in several other applications.by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: StrokeIt crashes - reproduceable - 16 years agoI can't find a way to reproduce this. If I draw two or three C's without releasing the right button I exceed my gesture timeout. If I try to draw two C's very quickly I end up going in a circle or spiral which StrokeIt sees as an unrecognized gesture. Waht is your gesture timeout set to?by MKairys - StrokeIt Bugs Re: Yes, I'm still alive :) - 16 years agoHello Jeff, and let me be the first to say: welcome back! In my opinion drawing the lines is a minor issue. I liked to use the line as a guide to my strokes, but I have managed to live without it. As to protected-mode programs, isn't this just a matter of running StrokeIt itself "as administrator"? In my experience using StrokeIt on Vista, of greater import is a lack of staby MKairys - General Re: StrokeIt source :) - 16 years agoCries of "where are you, Jeff" and pleas to work on StrokeIt rise and fall like waves in this forum. Maybe we can get a wave going here :) What Simon says goes for me too. StrokeIt has become for me not just nice or useful but essential to my getting my work done in an efficient and comfortable manner. I'd almost say my livelihood depends on it. I've said before, and Iby MKairys - General Re: IE7 Problems??? - 16 years ago> What problem is everyone having with IE7 and > stroke it. Mine is working just fine. I just saw this post because of the new reply, and I tried again with IE7 (my config is same as yours) but it definitely doesn't work. I've read elsewhere that you have to disable IE7's protected mode to get it to work; have you done that? > Only problem I'm having with Vistaby MKairys - General Re: StrokeIt damages your health - 16 years agoI have quite the opposite opinion. In both my resarch and my personal experience I find that a major contributor to RSS is the frequent movement of the arm between the mouse and the keyboard. Even if the elbow is properly supported (which it often isn't) this movement, and the subsequent reshaping of the hand from mouse-holding to keyboard-using, calls into play many fine and delicate musby MKairys - General Re: Compare 3 alternatives to StrokeIt... - 16 years agoThanks for the useful info...by MKairys - General Re: New to Stroke it. - 16 years agoClick the Add... button and you will see the application dialog, including the finder. Add the application and right-click it in the list to add actions and commands. An action takes a gesture; click the small rectangle below the "Gestures that will execute" list to get a drop-down of available gestures. (Gestures already used in this action are not available). Finally add a command forby MKairys - General Re: Questions about adding commands - 16 years agoThe best way IMO is to identify (or create if possible) keyboard shortcuts in the application that do what you want, and then use the Strokeit commands Keys - Hotkey or Keys - Send Keystrokes to implement them. It is also possible to send Windows messages, but you have to know the message number and arguments if any.by MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Re: Current explorer window to specific location - 16 years agoWindows - Moveby MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Re: disable gestures but someones? - 16 years agoNot entirely sure I understand your question, but if you disable gestures in an application then when the application's window has focus no gestures will work.by MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Forum spam - 16 years agoIt's a real shame the forum is getting spammed again. My impression is Jeff did someting a year or so ago that blocked the spam we were getting then; seems it's wearing off...by MKairys - General Re: StrokeIt work on Windows Vista? - 16 years agoAll problems?? I tried that and it fixed neither the problem of drawing the colored line too slowly and the problem of gestures not recognized in IE7.by MKairys - General Re: New Folder - 16 years agoWhen you push Alt, do you get underlines under the initial letters of the menu names? I get *F*ile and F*a*vorites, so Alt-F goes to File. I don't know why you might see someting different, but in any case you should be able to navigate to the menu item you want using some sequence of Alt + ... and once you have the correct sequence you can use it in a StrokeIt action.by MKairys - StrokeIt Actions Re: New Folder - 16 years agoWhat does the menubar say?
