Is there any way that I can use a gesture to automatically put up my away message on AIM?

Thats a great idea! I decided to set it up myself. This is what I did.

Under global, I created a new action with two commands

the first comman was "Windows-active window"

i used the caption "X's Buddy list Window" where X=my screen name.

Then I made a second command "keys- send keystroke"

[alt_down]a[alt_up] [down] [down] [down] [down] [return]

that right there will bring up your first away msg upon using the gesture. you could also remove the series of downs and just put in a letter, which would then give you the first away msg that starts with that letter.

If you haven't already, create a new application in StrokeIt.
As the app identifier, select "Window Title" and type in:

*'s Buddy List Window

Then make sure to check the box that says "Match text as pattern." This will work for any AIM buddy list because the * is a wildcard, meaning any text can go there. So it will work even if you are signed into 2 different names.

Now select which gesture you would like to use for going away. Create a new command and make it a "Keys - Hotkey" and make the hotkey Control+A, now add a new command and make it a "Keys - Send Keystrokes" and just put a "d" in the box.

This is a little bit faster than the one above and if you have a slower computer the "Send Keystrokes" option sometimes skips letters and commands.

Hope this helps!
