This Works - Search WikiPedia
August 25, 2005 05:01PM
I have created an Internet Explorer Web Accessories Quick Search Custom URL named "wikip" using the information specified as in the message above. This allows me to use the Address Bar to do a custom search using the WikiPedia website.
eg. wikipedia rpn typed on the Address Bar returns a WikiPedia webpage about rpn calulator Reverse Polish Notation information.

In the StrokeIt "Internet Explorer" application, I created a new action named "WikiPedia Search" and a corresponding command using the "Keys - Send Keystrokes"

[CTRL_DOWN]c[CTRL_UP][ALT_DOWN]d[ALT_UP]wikip [CTRL_DOWN]v[CTRL_UP][ENTER]

I can now highlight a section of text, perform the gesture and a WikiPedia page is returned corresponding to the search term highlighted.

Note that I used the "Internet Explorer" application, and there was a typo or mistake in the previous message regarding "[CTRL_UP]v[CTRL_UP]]". My technique is very similar to the previous message, but I like the flexability of having either the Address Bar typing method or the mouse gesture method available to use.

Also the search result is displayed in the same page, and should be in a new page. I will work on this. Any suggestions?

Similar to above but use this command for "Keys - Send Keystrokes"

[CTRL_DOWN]c[CTRL_UP][CTRL_DOWN]n[CTRL_UP][ALT_DOWN]d[ALT_UP]wikip [CTRL_DOWN]v[CTRL_UP][ENTER]

The search term result is returned in a new separate page.
