Gesture with Lbutton_down

i was trying to make the following gestures in notepad:
send keys: [alt]
send keys: e


the action works with most gestures - /up ,down or even Mbutton_down etc. but not with L_buttondown aka "rocker gesture".

Lbutton_down only sends the alt keystroke after which the focus doesn't seem to anywhere-meaning pressing keystrokes manually doesn't help either. This probably explains why this doesn't work.
any ideas to make this work plz??

P.S: delay doesn't help as well
and a hotkey( ALT + E) has a similar effect.
