Restarting and shutting down

Restarting and shutting down
October 01, 2006 05:52PM
I've been looking for how to restart or shutdown without the brute force method of going through the start menu. My first guess was something like the method used to lock the computer here:http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?2,200,201. But I've also read that using Rundll32 to shutdown or restart was only available in win ME/98 and that I have to use shutdown.exe but I can't find the proper arguments anywhere. Anyone know how to do this in XP?

you can use [WIN_DOWN]D[WIN_UP] to focus deskstop
and then hotkey ALT+F4 to show shutdown message box

thank you remgerar! iv'e been thinking of how to do this one for a while, and i forgot about alt+f4, i played with your idea and got this one to work, one gesture and no questions asked, emediate shut down [WIN_DOWN]D[WIN_UP][alt_down][f4]uuuuuu, put this in a "send keys trokes" command. make sure the gesture cant be acedentally drawn.
