Activate window/control under mouse
July 20, 2009 04:18PM
i use rightclick+leftclick for closing a tab in firefox.
it works best when the actual tab content is activated first.

what is the best way to accomplish this?
i tried [Windows - activate Window] without any values.
this way the whole firefox window is activated. it works but is not elegant.

what i need is activate window under mouse.

i could send a message to quickmacros to accomplish it,
but doing it inside strokeit would be better.

is this a case for using lua?

The easiest way to activate a window under the mouse cursor is a simple left click. So if you want to use rightclick+leftclick to close the tab, before issuing the close command you should send a left click command first.

I don't know if this helps in this case but I'm using X-mouse which is part of the Tweak UI (Power toy for Windows XP).
This activates the window under mouse cursor. This is very helpful when using multiple monitors.
