Help beta test .9.7 "enhanced"Posted by jeff
Hello Jeff,
12.14.2009 I have problems to change draw buttons on WinXP sp3. Can you please control this. Whenever I try changing the draw button right mouse is still the draw button. I made a clean install with multi user support. Edit: Today I find out that LButton_DOWN is not working anymore icon turns blue but nothing happens. regards Leo PS: I miss 4BUTTON_UP { } 4BUTTON_DOWN { } 5BUTTON_UP { } 5BUTTON_DOWN { } in strokes.bin. Are they working ? :) Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 12/18/2009 04:28AM by Leo.
There's a new build that should fix most of the problems people have been having with the "special gestures" (wheel/ button up/down) If you are still having trouble after the upgrade, reboot your computer. If it still doesn't work after the reboot, let me know.
Additionally, there is now support for 4/5 button up/down. You'll have to manually add the following lines to your strokes.bin file. 4BUTTON_UP { } 4BUTTON_DOWN { } 5BUTTON_UP { } 5BUTTON_DOWN { } -- Jeff
Hello Jeff,
I can not change draw button at all. I made stroket.ini change draw button to middle but right button persist as draw button. Perhaps I am the only one who have this :). I can only test 4Button but it is working thank you. Run Programm with only File explorer.exe is not working anymore. You have to add C:\Windows\explorer.exe in my case. Edit: System is still WinXP sp3 Regards Leo Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/22/2009 09:06AM by Leo.

Are you seeing 4 and 5 as options in the "Draw gestures by holding" dropdown box? Have you rebooted since installing the new version? You may also want to try uninstalling the existing version, and possibly manually deleting the Program Files\TCB Networks\StrokeIt folder. Then reboot, then install the new version and see what happens. -- Jeff

The current (12/23) build still has this problem. When I initially reported it, I too noted that I had MS Intellimouse installed, but I've seen this on other machines where I'm just using the stock OS drivers with no difference (with both Logitech and MS mice too). All my machines are running Win 7 x64 at this point, which could very well be the key point if you're not seeing this Jeff. ;)
It works for me with a MS Optical Intellimouse on XP32, XP64,Vista32, Vista64, and Win7 64 (all English versions, all clean installs with no additional mouse drivers or software) so I'm pretty confident that it *should* work for someone else, too.
I'm at a loss because I can't reproduce the error on any of my test machines. If anyone wants to try the following, it should produce a very clean install with all the default settings: Uninstall any existing version of StrokeIt Reboot Delete Program Files\TCB Networks\StrokeIt Install StrokeIt and uncheck the "Run now" option at the end Create an empty strokeit.ini file in Program Files\TCB Networks\StrokeIt Run StrokeIt Test that you can draw gestures with the right mouse button Open StrokeIt, go to Edit|Preferences Change "Draw gestures by holding" from "Right Button" to 4 Click OK to close/save preferences Test that you can draw gestures with the 4 button Test that you can no longer draw gestures with the right mouse button If that works for you, shutdown StrokeIt and delete the strokeit.ini file (to switch from portable mode back to normal mode) and restart StrokeIt. You will now be using your old settings. Go back to Preferences and set "Draw gestures by holding" to "4" if it is not already set. Make sure you can still draw gestures with the 4 button. -- Jeff
First I want to say that changing "draw button" with personal (23.12.2009) edition is no problem.
Jeff I made everything as you describe but with no success. I running uninstaller reboot. installed 23.10 reboot made strokeit.ini start strokeit.exe change draw button to middle close everything nothing Additional regsvr32 /u "C:\Programme\TCB Networks\StrokeIt\mhook.dll" nothing Edit: System is still WinXP sp3 I think that it has something to do with child_windows introduction. A few more questions:
1) After you change the draw button to 4 and close the preferences window, does it "save"? If you open the preferences window, does it still show "4"? 2) With the draw button set to 4, does the right mouse button still draw gestures? 3) What happens if you set the draw button to "Middle"? Does the middle button work for drawing gestures? -- Jeff
It's the same situation here. Draw button can be changed to every other button (LMB, RMB, 4, 5) but StrokeIt refuses to comply. Is saves the setting, when I reopen the preferences window I can see the correct settings but it leaves the RMB as the drawbutton, no matter which one I choose.
Thanks, Leo. I've updated the preconfigured "Run Explorer" command in the defaults to use "%WINDIR%\explorer.exe" instead of "explorer.exe"
As far as the change in behavior goes, this is just a side effect of using CreateProcess instead of ShellExecuteEx to run programs. It was a necessary change that was made several months ago because ShellExecuteEx was causing some very difficult to debug crashes on many systems. -- Jeff
@Leo
Thanks for posting the example. Your previous script was using the "Left Mouse Click" which works fine for me as well. The buttons that don't register the "UP" action for me are the 4 and 5 (back and forward) buttons. (Using Win7-32 btw) Can you confirm your example using: class=Notepad New Action { gesture = 5BUTTON_DOWN New Command = keys, keys "Key_down" } New Action { gesture = 5BUTTON_UP New Command = keys, keys "Key_up" }
Sorry, you can't reply to this topic. It has been closed.
