StrokeIt
This is how to open IE in a new window.Posted by vorchatwo
I caught this one in one of the topics but the guy who wrote it was VERY vague about how to actually program it. I messed with it for about 2 days off and on and finally got it to work. It's better than the other one i had before. Here it is.
} Open in new window { gesture = Down APPS = keys, keys [SHIFT_DOWN] New Command = utilities, Delay "1000" New Command = keys, keys [Shift_UP] 1st export your strokeit settings (open strokeit, got to file, then export) then just copy and paste this in your .sxp export file in the strokeit folder then import your .sxp file back into strokeit (open strokeit, got to file, then import) The utilities command is the key. To do it manually just: 1. Under IE in strokeit make a new action (right click on the IE header) 2. Rename this to: Open in new Window [Down] 3. Add the gesture of down (or what ever you want) 4. Add a command 'send keystroke' then set the key stroke (in the bottom screen to [SHIFT_DOWN] 5. Add a command 'Utilities-Delay' (its in the drop-down menu in the utilities area about in the middle) set the delay to 1000 (one second) or whatever you want. 6. Add a command 'send keystroke' then set the key stroke to [SHIFT_UP]. thats it. Now just right click on a link, hold, pull down, release and click the link within the delay time (1 sec if you set it to 1000). It will open in a new page.
eh.
I suppose that's one way of doing it. I don't care for the extra step of having to click on the link again. but I suppose it's better than nothing. I'm still gonna use the MouseGestures program to handle this feature for me until someone finds a way to duplicate it's behavior in StrokeIt
"No need to guesture at all."
Considering that my open-link-in-new-window gesture is the same as copy/paste, i.e. up or down, i really cannot see how dragging and dropping can possibly be more convenient than simply mousing one or two pixles down/up before clicking the link. Much less mouse travel to achieve the same function = better solution.

Hey Erlend, you don't need to drop the link very far away. Simply drag it and move one or two pixels away, and then drop it. That is it, much less mouse travel ^_^ and no "Delay 1000" either. |
