StrokeIt
Open in new Window (IE)Posted by Mapple
When I first started looking for mouse gestures programs I found http://www.codeproject.com/atl/MouseGestures.asp this small program That allowed me to use just a few commands in Internet Explorer, one of which was the ability to do a gesture over a link and make it open that link in a new window.
Then I found out about StrokeIt and that solved all my problems, Almost. I can't seem to find a way to make StrokeIt open IE links in a new window. My current workaround solution is to disable StrokeIt in IE and let the other program handle the gestures for IE, but that's not a valid solution because the other program doesn't support Copy and Paste as commands you can assign to gestures. Can anyone help me? I found http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?f=6&i=201&t=201 this thread but I couldn't get the gesture from that thread to work properly. I find that using that config, I have to left click on the link first and then quickly run the gesture, which isn't what I'm going for here. Any ideas?
Not a solution, but consider moving to MyIE2 for all your browsing needs. It's a wonderful program, and among other virtues 'way too numerous to mention, can be set to always open links in a new window (tab, actually).

I've looked at MYIE2, and I might end up switching, but even still I like the ablilty to be able to select if the link opens in the same window or a new one (without holding down extra buttons) I like the ability to use the front and back buttons to navigate as well. What can I say? I'm picky like that.
And as far as the "short" answer, I know that it is considered to be not possible with the current version of StrokeIt, but if you look at the first link of the first post, there is code on that page that tells you how to implement this function. I guess perhaps my post was a challenge to anyone out there with more programming skills than myself, (either the StrokeIt programmers, or someone that's good with plugins) to create a way to do this in StrokeIt.
