Context sensitive recognition?

Context sensitive recognition?
October 17, 2009 11:13AM
Suppose if I define a gesture "M" for MAP. When I draw M above the name of a place I recognize that would likely have a google maps entry, then I want the system to recognize the place name and provide an in page popup in the web page with that map. But how does the system recognize and pass the context (the city/state name in this case) to the appropriate webservice? Is this the job of a plugin or is it available as part of the api itself?

On the page you are at, you need to select the address information that you want Google Maps too look up every time before you do the gesture.

You configure StrokeIt thus (I am assuming you already know the basics of the interface):
- Hotkey: Control+C (copies selected place)
- Hotkey: Control+T (open new tab)
- Send Keystrokes:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=
- Hotkey: Control+V (to paste the place you selected)
- Hotkey: Enter

If you are using Firefox, which you should, this search will go much faster if you first create a bookmark with keyword in Firefox - I don't know whether this is possible in IE:
Bookmark:
- Location:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%s
- Keyword: gmap
If you do it this way, send keystrokes "gmap " in StrokeIt instead of the "http // ..." keystrokes I gave earlier. Do not forget the space after gmap: "gmap ".

Let me know whether it works for you or not.
