I've learned alot by playing with the Utilities - Delay command,
starting with setting it at 50 ms, then increasing it by 50 ms at a time
until I get the response I want.
Depending on the task I'm trying to accomplish,
sometimes it only requires 50 ms delay,
but other times it can require up to 1000 ms (1 second).
Here's an example using StrokeIt in Internet Explorer 7,
to close a tab that's in the "middle" between at least 2 other tabs,
then return to the "previous" tab, or the one to the Left.
<APP name="Internet Explorer">
class=IEFrame
Close Tab --> Previous [Down] {
gesture = Down
CTRL + W = keys, hotkey [CTRL_DOWN]W[CTRL_UP]
200 ms = utilities, Delay "200"
CTRL + SHIFT + TAB = keys, hotkey [CTRL_DOWN][SHIFT_DOWN][TAB][SHIFT_UP][CTRL_UP]
My computer needs to be set to 200 ms to accomplish this,
otherwise the focus will go to the next tab to the Right,
after closing the current tab.
I use several plugins in IE7, including Quero's toolbar & IE7 Pro.
I disabled IE7 Pro's mouse gestures, because I get better control/results
from my StrokeIt configurations.
There are quite a few posts on the web
about the inability to perform this action in IE7 -
when at least 3 tabs are open,
to return to a previous tab after closing the "middle" tab in between 2 others -
and the MSoft MVPs usually advise that various plugins interfere
with the ability to accomplish this.
.... and, yea, I also use Maxthon, Fox, Opera, & Safari,
so no need for the "why don't you just use ...... instead?" rap ;)
By experimenting with " Utilities - Delay",
you may find yourself able to do things that haven't responded before.
