Trouble with F and T
March 06, 2003 11:52PM
On the page:

http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/actions.shtml?app=files/All%20Symbols.cfg

The T gesture is shown to be

-----+
|
|
|

and F is

+-----
|
|
|

My trouble is that the T is recognized as an F.

I edited strokes.bin in WordPad and found the entry

F {
alias=Right-Down
}

as well as

T {
alias=Right-Down
}

I agree with the alias for T, but F should be Left-Down.

I don't understand all that is happening, but one of the results is that if I stroke a T (right-down) on the windows desktop I get a Find window (this action is supposed to be tied to the F gesture) and if I stroke an F (left-down) it is a no-op.

I don't know if this was the case in .9.1, but is the case for both versions so far of .9.2 pre.

Thanks,

Dale

Since noone jumped in with a "me too" on this I did some more testing.

I removed StrokeIt completely and did a fresh install of .9.2 pre and this is no longer a problem.

I removed again and installed .9.1 and the problem returned.

So, it appears that this was an issue with the stroke definitions in .9.1 and was fixed with the definitions in .9.2 pre

sorry for the confusion. I'm all set.

Dale,

As you discovered, it was a bug in the .9.1 release that has been fixed. I'm still working on a way of fixing it without requiring everyone to overwrite their existing gestures.

All is well for me with this latest .9.2 pre

F and T work properly
No more error message about kmeleon on startup
no more error when shutting down StrokeIt
And a reinstall even remembers the last install directory

Well done and thank-you!
