'Activate window' doesn't always work
November 09, 2006 08:57PM
[WinXP with TweakUI setting 'prevent applications from stealing focus' checked.]

'Activate window' doesn't always work. I've tried setting 'delay' and 'wait for windows to exist'. I used correct captions and class. Is there any way to activate by program .exe?

What, exactly, are you trying to activate?

Does it work when TweakUI is off?

I have the same problem, for example I want to make a gesture so it opens a "internet explorer" then set the url to www.whatever.com, so I do:

-RUN PROGRAM --> iexplore.exe
-DELAY --> 5000 ms
-WINDOWS - ACTIVATE WINDOW --> Class IEFRAME (Iexplore)
-DELAY --> 5000 ms
-KEYS - HOTKEY --> ALT + C
-DELAY --> 5000 ms
-KEYS - SEND KEYSTROKES --> www.whatever.com

And sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it does not. The problem is that sometimes the activate windows does not work properly, and the windows does not get the focus, so from there, nothing works in the sequence of commands.
But sometimes it work perfect.

I have tried to set some more or some less delays, longer, shorter, use the caption in the activate window, I think I've tries everything... but it does not work :-(

What can I do?

Thanx

Is this problem with IE only or with other applications as well?

you can make a macro to do that with autoit or autohotkey, and then set the gesture to execute the (compiled) macro
