Run Program other than .exe
May 07, 2004 12:38PM
It would be nice if "Run - Run Program" would be able to run things other than .exe's. For example, scripts (.vbs, .js)...I've tried doing this and it accepts the vbs file when I create the command but then nothing happens when I do the gesture...maybe there is already a way to do this that I don't know about?

If you can make a desktop shortcut to run the program
you want to run - and then set the shortcut to hidden -

you can fire it off with the keystrokes command like so:

[WIN_DOWN]r[WIN_UP]name_of_shortcut_here

....perhaps hidden shortcut right in the base C: drive
would even be better off...

I've had to create hidden shortcuts to .txt files
just to open them up and grab a path since I
still can't figure out how to produce a \ with the
keystroker.

[DIVIDE] does the other one - little help tho /

In the "file - Open" window, just select "all files" in the drop down and select the file you want to launch. Any file properly associated with a program can be launched from here (some of my commands are to "execute" a .log file, and they work fine)

I think this (about the \ slash) was discussed before in the forum. If i remember right you just put in 2 of them. The first one is read by StrokIt and not used (for some technical reason), but the 2nd stays put.
