Counter needed

It would be very nice to have a counter variable. I mean that when I use a gesture to modify something in a file, and a same gesture would also invoke Save As... dialog, and save the file to a different name. Right now I have to type the new file name. If there was a counter variable, I could use it like this:

in a send keystroke command

[alt_down]a[alt_up] ; invoke Save As...
file[counter].ext[enter]
