Keys - Hotkey
June 26, 2009 10:42PM
I thought in the new version 9.6 this problem would have been fixed.
anyways.. if it's possible jeff.

Keys - Hotkey function does not seem to work.
I can't save the the shortcut combinations.
It disappears..

Is it possible to get this fixed? I'm going in to the cfg files to edit and it is not convenient..

thanks for the great software. been using it for a couple years now..

I believe you didn't click in the text field below the label before you typed alt-h. I can see from your image the alt went to the menubar.

I can type the shortcut and see it,
but when I try to click the [x] button to save it, I can't.. and
the shortcut disappears and does not save in the *.cfg file.

I guess I'll just have to edit the cfg file....

I'm having similar problems. When I press alt+letter or ctrl+letter, it sometimes catches on and I can add the hotkey; other times, it briefly displays the correct hotkey (like ALT+M), which then vanishes, leaving the input field empty. It then seems like StrokeIt doesn't intercept the keys. Sometimes, when I keep pressing the letter key, it displays "mmmmmmALT+M". I also sometimes get a Windows sound, which sounds like some sort of error notification.

However, I suspect that this it not a problem of StrokeIt itself, but rather of some other program or thing interfering with it. I have no idea what it could be, I have many programs installed. I have a feeling that StrokeIt itself is not to blame.

Oh did I mention that I am absolutely hooked on StrokeIt? I have been using it for years and couldn't live without it. Of the many programs I have installed, StrokeIt is the second last program I would ever uninstall if my fingernails were being pulled out - Windows would be the last.

You can save hotkey as follows

1. press left mouse button on the blank and hold it down

2. type "alt+h" in the blank

3. press right mouse button on the blank and hold it down

4. release left mouse button

5. release right mouse button

Thanks Burundal, interesting workaround! I must say I haven't experienced this problem anymore since I reinstalled Windows, so it was probably not StrokeIt.

Another option is to Export the Actions from StrokeIt, then manually change the hotkeys in this Actions file by Notepad. The hotkeys will be there when you import the file again. For repetitive editing, a text editor is more efficient than StrokeIt's own editor at any rate.
