show how to draw built-in gestures
March 07, 2010 01:43PM
Some gestures such as up or down are really easy to make but some can be drawn in many ways. I personally had big problems with gestures V, A, F, H.
So... my proposal is to create an option that would show an existing gesture in slow motion.

I agree that that would be helpful; but the gesture list on the wiki made by Leo will solve most problems:

A link to this page ought to be included somewhere in the StrokeIt menus.

There is also a one-page gesture reference in HTML and PDF, as well as documentation on the preconfigured applications and other useful information, here:

Good question !
And thanks for the links, it is very useful !

It would be nice to reach those schemes more easily, in the software. Letter like J or F are really confusing, since it is not the actual signs we draw.
Also, I believe the way we write some letters is different from country to country, English speaking people don't write a J as the Frenchs or Germans do.

so I am not sure the "block printings" letters are a good reference to show in the gesture list.

You're absolutely right. The interface could use some improvement.

Long-dead Sensiva Symbol Commander displays a list of gestures as follows: http://www.izone.ru/sys/tuning/sensiva-symbol-commander-screen.htm

For new gestures it will automatically create icons, but they can be changed manually.
