Help beta test .9.7 personal
July 28, 2009 09:10AM
This is a bugfix release that should fix all of the reported crashes with .9.6.

Note: We've hit the "release candidate" phase of this release. This means that I'm only going to be fixing crashes and other "serious" bugs. If .9.7 crashes on your system, please email me the crash reports.

Translations needed: .9.7 has a few translation changes from .9.6. Please help translate this release into your favorite language. Click here to see how you can help.

If you have a feature request or other good idea, please post your idea to the Improvement Requests forum and I'll see about adding it AFTER .9.7 is released.

@adyy: I'm testing the enhanced version so I can't say definitively if this will work for you on the personal edition, but to open up a drive with the current version, make your run command '%windir%\explorer.exe' (without the quotes) and your target dir (i.e., c:\) as the parameter to it.

Does this version fix the MDI detection problem?
StrokeIt 0.9.5 appears to have problems in detecting programs with MDI windows. When I use the Finder tool onto MDI programs, it just finds the Executable name rather than the window class. And when we tried to use the executable name to perform mouse actions, sometimes StrokeIt fails and use Global Actions instead. Hereby I now use Window Title with Patterns to identify MDI programs.

Some MDI frameworks give their windows "random" window classes while other frameworks give all applications and windows the same window class. For this reason, StrokeIt will ignore any window classes that match the following patterns:

Afx:*
TfrmMain
TMainForm

If you believe that StrokeIt is behaving incorrectly with a specific application that does not use the above window classes, I would be very interested in hearing about it.

The bug was posted 4 years before,

http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?2,334,603
http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/forum/read.php?3,2495,2496

Since I now use Title identification for MDI programs, I did not meet with MDI detection problems any more. But the bug might still be there.

0.9.6-preview-110609 Application + 0.95 Plugins floder, the problem resolved.Gestures can now open any folder. The Program runs very stable, near-perfect.
The question is in the plug-ins, rather than the main application.

'If you believe that StrokeIt is behaving incorrectly with a specific application that does not use the above window classes, I would be very interested in hearing about it. '

This is not the best way to solve the problem.

I Only know a little Englis, which is translated by Google.

Re command options: Winmsg and Task next/previous
1. Both WinMsg options are 'send': should one of these be 'post'?
2. The commands for global actions TaskNext and Task Previous are both marked "?" ie unspecified. Not sure if this is an error

hope this helps

There's a new build that should fix the troubles anyone has been having with hotkeys and the 'activate window' command.

Enjoy!

can't minimize windows by gesture in win 7

Minimizing works fine on both of my Win7 systems. I'm using my old config files.
But there's something else: "Open Explorer" doesnt work any more. I hope the new version wont crash that often, as the final 9.6 did while locking up the whole windows gui...

The 160909 version installs successfully if you set your date a bit into the past, and the installed application works after resetting the date. So it's the date limit in the installer that seems to be incorrect. I bet jeff forgot to set it when he created the install. Minor inconvenience ;)

I don't think there is significant difference in memory requirement between personal and enhanced version.

Lua script language makes the enhanced version very powerful. Other than that there is only the mouse plugin that enhanced version has and personal has not so far (I might be wrong about that). But that is something I haven't used yet.

Therefore if you're not into scripting it makes no use for you to switch. Nonetheless, Jeff deserves some donation for what he has made, and if you are already spending money, why not switch :) Not to mention that Lua is something worth trying and having it integrated into the most used application on my computer is a nice thing to have. It already saved me several hours (if not days) of work.

Minimizing windows with MDI doesn't work as it should work imho. I'm on XP Pro SP2 English.

For example, WeBuilder minimizes to the LEFT bottom corner, right above the task bar, just like Miranda (Instant Messenger client). 9.6 seemed to be OK.

::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} used to open my computer (can be done with start>run) does not work. win 7. it worked in the non-beta but the non-beta crashed at random times, so installed this, no crashes so far.

thanks for keeping a free version Jeff!
