Creating a gesture to connect to the Internet with a modem

You can use Shorthand to connect to the Internet using a modem. Use the following commands to connect and disconnect using a modem.

To connect via a modem:

  1. Open the Shorthand Command Editor by selecting Start > All Programs > Shorthand, or by tapping the Shorthand icon  in the System Tray.
  2. In the left pane, expand the Global Actions content (click ), and then expand the Internet Explorer content (click ).
  3. Define the gesture.
    1. Select Global Actions in the left pane, and then select File > New Action.
    2. Choose a gesture from the drop-down menu located below the right pane, and then tap Add Gesture.
    3. In the left pane, name the action (the gesture you selected in sub-step 2.b. which triggers the action) by right-clicking on New Action, and then select Rename.
    4. Tap in the new name.
  4. Define the Action
    1. Select the application in left pane, and then select File > New Action.
    2. Select an action from the drop-down menu (right side of window).
    3.   Name the action by right-clicking on New Action, and then select Rename.
  1. Define the command.
    1. Select the action in the left pane, and then select File > New Command.
    2. From the drop-down menu located under Configure a command below, select the command.
    1. Click Browse to locate and add the required rasphone.exe file.
    2. In the Arguments field, tap in the following text:
-t connectionname
    1. To rename the command, in the left pane, name the command by right-clicking on New Command, and then select Rename.
    2. Tap in the new name.

To disconnect via a modem:

  1. Open the Shorthand Command Editor by selecting Start > All Programs > Shorthand, or by tapping the Shorthand icon  in the System Tray.
  2. In the left pane, expand the Global Actions content (click ), and then expand the Internet Explorer content (click ).
  3. Define the gesture.
    1. Select Global Actions in the left pane, and then select File > New Action.
    2. Choose a gesture from the drop-down menu located below the right pane, and then tap Add Gesture.
    3. In the left pane, name the action (the gesture you selected in sub-step 2.b. which triggers the action) by right-clicking on New Action, and then select Rename.
    4. Tap in the new name.
  4. Define the Action
    1. Select the application in left pane, and then select File > New Action.
    2. Select an action from the drop-down menu (right side of window).
    3. Name the action by right-clicking on New Action, and then select Rename.
  1. Define the command.
    1. Select the action in the left pane, and then select File > New Command.
    2. From the drop-down menu located under Configure a command below, select the command.
    1. Click Browse to locate and add the required rasphone.exe file.
    2. In the Arguments field, tap in the following text:
-h connectionname
    1. To rename the command, in the left pane, name the command by right-clicking on New Command, and then select Rename.
    2. Tap in the new name.
